Afton is a small town about 20 miles west of Charlottesville near the geographic center of Virginia. From Interstate 64, take Exit 99 (note signs for Shenandoah National Park and Wintergreen Ski Area), following Highway 250 North. Near the base of a long downhill, turn right onto Highway 151 (note signs for Wintergreen Ski Area) and follow this several miles to County Road 635, which will be immediately after a country store on the right (if you reach Highway 6 you have gone too far). Follow 635 for approximately 3 miles, turning right onto a gravel road immediately past a sign for Greenfield Mountain Farms. The gravel road ends a half mile later at Gallastar.
